CESAR, CENTRE POMPIDOU

The retrospective dedicated to the master of compression

César Baldaccini, known as César, is associated with the eponymous trophy dedicated to cinema in France. César is, above all, a self-taught artist-researcher. He radically compresses or expands materials; he transforms polyurethane or creates gigantic works in bronze like the huge version of his own thumb made in bronze.

César is an artist-sculptor who transforms forms. In materials and objects: when technical innovation and artistic vision meet to create a universal singularity. His retrospective at the Centre Pompidou, almost twenty years after his death, this exhibition at the Centre Pompidou, celebrates the artist’s prodigality and his work in which technical innovations are embedded with an artistic vision to create a unique world.

The exhibition is an invitation for a journey to meet the prolific works of Cesar works.

César, exhibition runs from December 13,2017 to March 26, 2018, at Centre Pompidou, Place Georges Pompidou, 75004 Paris
