Come to see my Japanese prints: Modernity in a traditional art.
If Japanese prints have been a source of inspiration for the Art Nouveau artist, they keep fascinating us with their lyricism, delicacy and color. The exhibition at the Custodia Foundation looks back at the new waves of artists that have shaken this Japanese art. The prints on display echo the upheavals and changes that Japanese society was undergoing at that time, in the middle of the 20th century. These prints are away from the 19th century ones while they keep at the same time a link with them. The colors, the framing and the techniques used, are based on a golden rule: the harmony in which the strength of the prints is found.
